Second Day - 15/03/2022
The camp started at 9:30 am. The first group 'Pavithram' was in charge of the assembly and they gave a good news report of the past days's events. This was followed by placard making by different groups while some went for the flashmob scheduled on 17th March. This was a gesture toward anti-war protest against Russia and showing our support for Ukraine.
By 11 we had the opportunity to listen to a class on Child Right's Protection by Mr. Reny Antony, Kerala State Child Rights Commission Member. It was a fruitful session. The afternoon session was handled by another alumni from the College, Vinod Vikramadhityan, Sub-Inspector of Police. He took a class on "Challenges in classroom and society as a whole".
It was an informative session. The day ended by 3:30pm.
Third day - 16/03/2022
On the third day, we went for the camp field trip to 'Kuthiramalika' and 'Veli' beach. It was a memorable and exciting trip. The palace was built for King Swati Tirunal in the year 1840. The name 'Kuthiramalika' was because of the beautifully encarved 122 wooden horses on the outer side of the palace. The palace and its artifacts was a rewarding experience. The historical facts were helpful to knowing the past of our royal traditions in Kerala. After a short lunch, we headed to Veli beach, a major attraction of the city. We enjoyed the beautiful greenery and dipped our feet in the sea as well. It was the most exciting part of the 5- day camp.
Fourth Day- 17/03/2022
The day began at 9:30 am. The second group ' Keli' gave a fun-filled assembly. Following the camp news, was a short event which was called -'Smaranika'- a collective memoir of all students about the ongoing camp. It contained hand-written articles from all of the students and was published under the same name. This was then followed by various cultural programmes by all the three groups.
Lunch was prepared by both students and teachers. It was a good experience and we had tapoica and chutney as our lunch.
At 2:45pm, a protest rally and a flashmob as well as a protest pledge was organised by the students on the wake on Ukranian war. Everyone declared openly their opposition to war and allegiance to Ukraine.
Fifth day- 18/03/2022
The day began with group 3 - 'Amaram' giving a wonderful news report. This was followed by the first session of the day handled by another former Theophilite student, Mr. Manoj G who is a teacher and a personality development trainer. The class was fully interactive and informative.
The afternoon session focused on getting our feedback about the past day's experiences and reflections. This opportunity was taken to thank everyone especially our Ancy teacher.
The concluding ceremony of the camp was yet another memorable moment. Samaranika was released by Dr. Benedict sir. Everyone was happy to share their thoughts. We also got to hear our principal reciting a poem on the community living camp.
The 5- day Community Living Camp was successfully completed. It was an informative and enriching experience for all of us. I thank the college for giving me the opportunity to attend and be a part of the camp.
