From a young age itself we liked to be called as angels. Then Virginia Woolf, writer and intellectual, opened up another interpretation which was like a slap on the face, a wake-up call for women all over the world. Woolf describes in her 1931 speech on the employment of women, about how she battled out the 'angel' in the house- the angel who turned to be a major hindrance for her creativity, for her expression, for her will to change the social structures. Angels represent everything pure, beautiful, sacrificial, refined, white...and Woolf for one decides to quit and be herself.
Whenever we are faced with a situation our minds cloud with insecurities. The big question that remains is what will others think? Watch your mouth, move in a graceful manner , blush more...
Do these phrases dictate and decide a persons acceptability?
Do we have the mind to extinguish that overtly pure, innocent being ingrained in all of us and just be ourselfs ?
Do we have to be an angel to blend into the crowd?
The reality of our existence is merely to satiate the culture in which we live.
Y'all start practicing -Eat, write, live - bare your claws, pack a nasty punch, let your imagination run wild and kill the angel before it overcomes you.
